Dona Mari’s is a wonderful family restaurant located in Mentone, just minutes outside of Redlands and is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All of the family recipes are from the Michoacán region of Mexico and everything including the handmade corn tortillas are made fresh daily on the premises.
Some of my favorite dishes include the delicious Seafood Cocktail with shrimp, abalone and octopus in a tasty seafood tomato broth with pico de gallo, cucumbers and avocado; the huge Crab Enchiladas with “real crab”, the tangy and mildly spicy Chili Verde Quesadilla; the sizzling Fish & Shrimp Fajitas, and the Pork Chops with a complex and bold mole sauce.
If you enjoy seafood and fish, you really should order the Filete Empapelado which is two sea bass filets stuffed with shrimp, octopus, scallops, diced onions, bell peppers, and steamed in its own juices in aluminum foil.
Simple yet delicious! Eating here is like dining in the owner’s home and let me tell you folks, the food is excellent as are the portions and prices.
