Restaurant Summary by Allan Borgen:

One of the joys in life if finding a small restaurant that believes in delicious quality food at affordable prices. One such restaurant is El Burrito in Redlands. Serving a multitude of traditional Mexican foods since 1975, the aromas and items that come out of this small red colored fast food looking restaurant is short of amazing. In addition to owner’s Ted Nece high expectations of taking no shortcuts only serving the finest food he can, his staff is an important element to this restaurant’s success since all of the friendly dedicated staff have worked here for many years and work very exceptionally well as a team.

The menu is simple and non pretentious, only homemade family recipes with no extra frills. The star attraction from El Burrito’s menu is their giant handmade flour tortillas. These chewy and deliciously fresh tortillas really bring their burritos to a new level of greatness.

There are quite a few fillings and meats to choose to stuff into the flour tortillas. Let’s see there are three delicious meats to choose from starting with the popular seasoned ground beef, a rich and absolutely delectable creamy Red Chile Colorado Sauce with chunks of tender beef (my favorite), and a zesty and tasty Chile Verde with pieces of tender pork. No matter which meat you decide to choose, you will not be disappointed, I promise you!! Other items that you can put into your burrito include their flavorful rice & beans, lettuce, cheddar cheese, and onions. Once you have one of these burritos, you will be hooked as many as their loyal customers have for the past 35 years. The burritos range in price from $3.15 to $4.99. Such a deal!

Another winning dish is their unique Chile Rellenos which start off of a light egg white flour batter that is fried with a stuffed whole Anaheim Chile with jack cheese. The Relleno is then topped with a nice sauce and is truly another terrific Mexican classic offered at El Burrito.

If you enjoy hard shell fried tacos, you can get one with ground beef, lettuce, cheese, and some zesty taco sauce for only $2.25. The shell is crisp and the entire taco is all about flavor and textures. Speaking of flavors, a unique item that El Burrito offers are their Rolled Chicken Tacos $2.25. The taco starts off with a corn tortilla and is stuffed with a family chicken filling that is uniquely different than anything I have tasted. It is then tolled up and deep fried. I loved the chicken filling and can’t wait to order it again.
Rounding out the menu are Cheese Enchiladas, Tequitos, Tamales, the popular Quesadilla, A few Taco Salads and 7 various Combination Plates. It should be noted that the food is served on paper plates, plastic utensils and the seating consists of red colored metal benched in front of the restaurant with additional seating in the back of the restaurant.

I have been coming here for many years and really appreciate their consistency and high quality food they serve. I would like this restaurant even better if they would give me the recipe for their Colorado sauce. I literally wan to bathe myself in it. Just to clarify things, I’m not talking “kinky”, I’m talking one marvelous tasting sauce that I often dream about. I have no life.
