Restaurant Summary by Allan Borgen:

Peru offers a rich variety of foods heavily influenced by Spain, China, Italy, Japan and West Africa. El Rico Pollo in San Bernardino is one unique restaurant that you would find in Los Angeles.  Led by Chef Abel Salvadore is a master at creating both original as well as traditional Peruvian dishes using a variety of common ingredient that most chefs use like potatoes, rice, pasta, corn, chicken, lamb, pork and beef along with chilies grown only in Peru. The dining room may be simply decorated, but the food is exciting and delicious. These attributes along with awfully good prices are why I dine here again and again…

If you’ve never tried Peruvian food before folks, this is a must try. Here are a few of my favorite dishes at El Rico Pollo Peruvian Cuisine and Grill:

You have to try the Lomo Saltado, a very popular dish in Peru which is strips of sirloin steak sautéed with red onions tomatoes soy sauce vinegar cilantro snitches french fries and white rice. For you MEAT LOVERS out there, you have to try the Parillada Mixta, this is a huge portion of grilled top sirloin, pork chop, chicken, sausage and beef hearts skewers, all served over french fries with a huge salad.

  1. Thanks for the tip on Peruvian food. I really like Peruvian food & am looking for another place since one of the 2 locally I was going to closed down (or at least for now). The food looks great, I especially like lomo saltado & pollo saltado. Some of your reviews have prices & I didn’t see them on this or their web-site. Did you try the Chicha Morada or the Inka Kola? My kids like the Kola & I get the other at the places we have been. It has a totally different taste from anything else that I have had. Thanks for another great review.

  2. Today we went to El Rico Pollo and had lunch today thanks to you!!

We walked in and they sat us down right away. They gave us some corn to snack on (which was actually really good) I enjoyed it and dipped it in the green spicy sauce that was to use on anything.

I ordered the Carne A la Parrilla. It came with a salad and something else. I can’t remember what it was called, but it was delicious. It was like a potato. The Carne was very flavorful. The only thing I wished is that it was a thicker cut of meat, but other than that it melted in your mouth, so I can’t really complain.

My husband ordered the Chuleta A la Parrilla. He also got a salad, but had the french fries with it. Wow!! his chop was off the hook. You have to taste this for yourself and you won’t be sad.

Our waitress was wonderful. They got pretty busy while we were in there, but she continually checked on us.

I recommend trying out this place if you want something a bit different. I can’t wait to go back. We got a to go menu and have already decided what we will try the next time we go there.

Thanks again for the giveaway and the chance to try out places I may never have tried!

  3. I went to this establishment for lunch yesterday. First the food is delicious. I had the chicharon calamari. The cor nuts to snack on before the meal were the best I ever had. I would order 10 pounds of them if I could!. The service was adequate. Now for the one complaint that I had. I arrived at 12:10. There were 6 other patrons there as well, 4 of which that were already eating. I ordered immediately when I was seated. It took 38 minutes for my meal to arrive. If I was on a lunch break from work this would of been a problem. I will go back again though. The food was worth the wait. Extra large portion (I will make 3 total meal out of). I like the décor also.
