Restaurant Summary by Allan Borgen:
Located in Riverside off Van Buren Blvd, in a large shopping complex, Morefire Thai Restaurant is one of those restaurants that the locals love and won’t tell anyone outside the area about because they are afraid that “outsiders” will over run the restaurant and the loyal locals will not be able to get in. The selection of dishes you can order is huge and the portions are larger than most other Thai restaurants which is a good thing because the food is outstanding.
There are two dining rooms and a fairly large banquet room in the back for large parties. All of the food is made fresh to order and every dish has layers and layers of sublime flavors and textures, balancing spicy, salty, sweet and sour.
For starters, I suggest the fantastic Angel Wings (boneless chicken wing stuffed with ground chicken, glass noodles and vegetables, battered and deep fried) and the classic Beef Salad with basil, onions and lime juice (I love this dish).
Choosing an entrée can be a difficult choice so as any good food critic would, I ordered until it hurt. On my first flight of dishes, I tried the Orange Chicken, the Thai BBQ Chicken and the Spicy Basil Fried Rice with chicken. The Orange Chicken had a nice orangey flavor to the crispy chicken while the Thai BBQ Half Chicken was moist and oh so tasty. If you like a different type of fried rice, you must order the Spicy Basil Fried Rice with your choice of meat, onions, bell peppers, a zesty garlic chili sauce and fresh basil. What a terrific dish!
Next came the creamy Pineapple Curry with tomatoes, carrots, bell peppers, basil, your choice of meat, of course pineapple chunks all swimming in zesty red chili coconut milk sauce, the unique Clay Pot Shrimp, the crispy Happy Duck with plum sauce and the Honey Pork loin that will thrill and delight your taste buds.
In closing, Morefire Thai Restaurant is definitely a real culinary find for those who want to experience tasty Thai food at very reasonable prices.
