Located a short distance from the Ontario Airport on the corner of Vineyard and Holt, and tucked away next to the Comfort Suites Hotel is Mustazzoli Ristorante, an inviting and serene Italian restaurant that offers both traditional Northern as well as original Italian dishes in a beautiful setting

For starters, I highly recommend the Bruschetta Crescenza, 3 slices of their grilled homemade bread topped with Crescenza cheese, fresh asparagus, thinly sliced prosciutto ham, with a lovely white truffle essence and the delightful Capesante Buonissimo, 4 huge pan-seared Jumbo scallops served with capers, shallots, and an exciting brandy balsamic cream sauce.

As stunning as the appetizers were, the rest of the items I ordered were just as good. Let’s see there was the Spaghetti Con Sapore DI Mare, shrimp,

scallops, calamari, clams and New Zealand Green Lip Mussels in a light spicy marina sauce, the unique Trota Saltata, boneless trout topped with a shitake mushroom, fresh sage and lemon butter sauce served with fresh veggies, the magnificent Meat Lasagna, 4 layers of ground beef, ground veal, ricotta, mozzarella & parmesan cheeses topped with their rich and creamy ragu sauce, and the Pollo Valdostana, a large chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto ham, Fontina cheese fried in olive oil and garlic and topped with spinach, olives, roasted red bell peppers and served with roasted potatoes, fresh broccolini and kalamata olives finished with a stunning roasted white wine garlic sauce.

For dessert, the Zabaglione, Marsala wine Italian custard with fresh mixed berries served in a martini glass along with a homemade biscotti was the perfect ending to a most magical dining experience.

If you are looking for a great restaurant that is quite different than other high end Italian restaurants and less pricey, Mustazzoli Ristorante is a great choice.

  1. I eat there once a week. My fav is pasta with sausage n broccoli spicy. Its a long name. Must try. I love the bread also.

  2. Went there last night with some friends, everyone enjoyed their meal. We had lasagna, ravioli, capallini and I had the spaghetti con sapore di mare. I really thought there was a great balance in the sauce although a bit spicy for me. Next time I will have them tone down a bit. The lasagna looked that will be my next meal there. Left room for desserts and had the canolli and the zabaglione, wow how good. Our server was great, she really know the menu well. The only down side was on the outside, there seemed to be a strong sewer smell coming from the nearby hotel. All in all, I will be back.

  3. We visited this really nice Italian restaurant after watching the local PBS show, Let’s Dine Out and were really impressed with what saw on the show. We have actually been her twice and enjoyed our meals both times. On our first visit, we started with the Capesante Buonissimo: sautéed jumbo scalaps, the delicious house bread as appetizers to go with a nice bottle of wine from an impressive wine selection. Both very good and the scalaps were definitely worth the price.

    My wife ordered the Linguini De Manzo: Linguini with diced beef tenderloin sautéed with julienne green beans, roasted red bell peppers, red onions in a garlic virgin olive oil and really enjoyed her meal. I ordered the Vitello Al Porcini: tender veal scalpppini sautéed with mix mushrooms in a shallots white wine sauce. This was some of the best veal that I have had in a long time and definitely worth coming here for. For desert, we had the Zebaglione: a custard topped with fresh fruit and berries and chocolate dipped strawberries! This desert was delicious and a party in your mouth!

    Our server was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes as she chatted with us about the menu and special dishes. The atmosphere of Mustazzoli was very classy and up scale in this hidden gem, as there was very pleasant mood music that was not over powering, yet the restaurant was still fairly quiet and romantic. I really recommend Mustazzoli for a quiet and romantic evening with a menu full of unique and delicious Italian dishes.

    Our second visit this past Saturday, I had wanted to return and try the Trota Saltata: the pan seared Rainabbow Trout with Shitaki mushrooms and sage in a lemon butter sauce. This restaurant sure knows how to prepare an outstanding Trout as this fish had no bones and prepared in such a way that it did not appear to be whole fish when served. My wife tried that Pollo Alla Parmessana, lightly breaded chicken breast baded with Mozzarella, parmesan cheese and tomato sauce served with fettuccine pasta and marinara sauce. Another outstand standing dish that just had incredible flavor to it. We again enjoy the a bottle of wine and finished out meal with a desert of delicious Tiramisu.

    The atmosphere was again very nice and mostly quiet although there was on group of people that were a little loud to the point of being inappropriate for such a restaurant. I was a little disappointed in the service we received this time as our server was none to enthusiastic or helpful. Good service is definitely a pet peeve of mine. We will be returning to Mustazzoli’s though, as their food is and choices are outstanding. Thanks for the tip Allan!
