Restaurant Summary by Allan Borgen:

If you enjoy BBQ at its finest, you have to come to Smokey Canyon BBQ located in the Canyon Crest Towne Centre in Riverside. If you love smoked meats, you’ve got to try their wonderful hickory smoked pork ribs, moist chicken, amazing smoked turkey breast, brisket and tri tip. In addition to these barbecue favorites, you can also get a variety of delicious sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Finish off your meal with some excellent homemade desserts like the bread pudding and hot blackberry cobbler. Your entire family will love this restaurant and they can also cater your next small or large party of function. My favorites include: their garlic fries topped with Parmesan cheese; the St. Louis Style Ribs, hickory smoked and tender with your choice of two down home sides; and the Smokey Canyon Sampler plate filled with 3 of your meats of choice. I personally go for the brisket, smoked turkey breast and hot link which is spicy and flavorful.

  1. I agree with you Allan about their Sampler plate. Pam has so many good dishes that it’s hard to choose a favorite. I just don’t get over there enough.

  2. I have been here at least a dozen times and I have never been disappointed. The burgers are terrific, the pulled pork is good, and anything with chicken is wonderful. The pulled chicken sandwich is so juicy and tasty, that when my husband took a bit of my sandwich, he thought he was eating pulled pork. I regularly get the smoked chicken, YUM! The cheese potato is great for a side. Don’t forget dessert, the dessert case is filled with hidden gems of deliciousness.

  3. I met Allan back in the early 90’s, and was so pleased to find his show still going strong…… and equally important…. featuring great local restaurants. I specifically went to Allan’s website to find some “Restaurant Destinations” for my Vietnam Combat Vets Group – Mission Viejo. Doing day-trips for the guys is a great bonding process, and there’s nothing more “Bonding”…… than a BBQ restaurant…! :-) I really liked the format of the Featured Restaurant page. I was sold on Smokey Canyon when I saw it on a recent episode of Let’s Dine Out. And this webpage visit has nailed it as one of our first “Day Trip Food Experiences.” Thanks Allan…. best, Al
