Restaurant Summary by Allan Borgen:

Tucked away in a corner of shopping center near the Montclair Plaza and next to Aaron Brothers on Central Ave in Montclair lies one of the newest and best Chinese restaurants in our area, Szechuwan Garden. The dim lit dining room is tastefully decorated creating a serene ambiance while the small private dining room is perfect for that special party or event. Specializing in dishes from Szechuwan & Mandarin regions of China, the main menu features both traditional as well as original Chinese dishes while the special Chinese menu offers many unique and original dishes you won’t find anywhere else except in china. Under the guidance of owner Chef Sam Wong and partner Steven Ren, Szechuwan Garden is quickly becoming one of the inland empire’s premier Chinese restaurants.

Some of my favorite dishes are the delicious Szechuwan Wontons with a robust garlic ginger brown sauce, The crisp Tea Smoked Duck, the exciting Pepper & Salt Pork Chops with green onions, jalapenos, & garlic, the tongue tingling but delicious house special Fire Cracker Chicken, the Crispy Shredded Beef with a ginger garlic sauce, the traditional Mao Braised Pork with Brown Sauce, The authentic Don Don Mein and lastly, the fiery Fish Filet with Hot Chili Sauce.

This restaurant is very different from other Chinese restaurants and one that I look forward to dining at each time I go there.

  1. The decor struck me first, it was very very elegant but the restaurant still had a casual atmosphere. The service was fast and good, food delicious!

  2. Yummy! Went to Grub Club event held here. So much food to try! Liked it so much, had to go back for lunch! House pan fried noodle is Soo good! Friendly staff and chef, great service!

  3. When we first walked in we were a bit concerned as it was empty but soon filled up after we sat down. Had the Szechuwan Wontons but no spinach was under it. Very nice taste with a nice flavor trail as you ate it. Mongolian beef was next with a nice presentation and taste. My friend had the almond chicken which was a very ample portion for the lunch special. Lunch come with soup of choice, light salad and a nice crispy egg roll. It was also nice to see Allen come and sit to eat. Had to go over and see what he chose for his meal.
